The Restructuring Process in the Slav Units

The Prague Province and the Viceprovinces of Bratislava and Michalovce began the main phase of the restructuring process of their Units in January 2015.

During the respective Chapters, the Units voted for the fusion of the Prague Province and the Viceprovince of Bratislava. The Viceprovince of Michalovce decided to be a Viceprovince of this new Unit (Prague-Bratislava). By these juridical votes they progressed to the final part of the preparations. They agreed on the “road map” for the restructuring process, prepared during the last General Visits in these Units.

The Inter-Unit Preparatory Commission started the discussion about the name and the territory of the new Province; some economic issues (e.g., particularities of each country; questions about the ‘restitution’ process in Czech Republic, etc.). They are now preparing the Statutes for the new Province and the Pastoral Plan according to the Priorities of the CRE.

The Coordinator of the CRE, Fr. Jacek Zdrzałek, is delegated by the Superior General to accompany then in this process.

The Province of Prague has 16 priests and three communities: Svatá Hora, Frýdek-Místek, Tasovice. The average age is: 57,41.
The Viceprovince of Bratislava has 44 confreres. There are 6 communities: Podolínec, Gaboltov, Banská Bystrica-Radvaň, Bratislava-Puškinova, Bratislava-Kramáre, Kostolná-Zárieče. The average age is: 46,6.
The Viceprovince of Michalovce (Greek-Catholic Rite) is the youngest (the average age is: 45,53). It has 36 confreres and 5 communities: 3 in Slovakia: Michalovce, Stropkov, Stará Ĺubovňa; and 2 in Ukraine: Korolevo, Užhorod.
