Vienna (Austria): The St Clement Hofbauer Committee has existed for 99 years
The St Clement Hofbauer Committee, which was founded after the sanctification of Clement Maria Hofbauer (1909), became a registered organization in 1917.
One of the founding fathers was the Venerable Servant of God Father Wilhelm Janauschek, whose beatification process was concluded in 2014.
During these almost 100 years the organization has financially supported the construction of numerous churches both at home and abroad, which are dedicated to St Clement. The Committee has also supported various construction and pastoral projects worldwide launched by the Congregation of the Redemptorists.
The Committee was also centrally involved in the establishment of the St Clement Museum in the church Maria am Gestade in Vienna (2014).
New Staff
At the General Assembly held in the house of the Redemptorists in Vienna-Hernals Bishop-vicar Rector Fr. Lorenz Voith CSsR, as chairman; Mr Willy Prokop, as deputy chairman and Ekonom were re-elected
The board consists of twelve members, who live in various states in Austria, and in these states the organization has been able to recruit numerous new members.
At present the organization has more than 400 members and almost one thousand sponsors.
Within the next months we plan to issue our own publication (Journal) and also to launch a web-site.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the death of Father Wilhelm Janauschek (30th June 1926) the Committee will arrange for “plaques of honour” to be placed on locations where the blessed priest from Vienna has worked (Leoben, Vienna, Oberpullendorf, Banat, Odessa …).
Support for Albania and India
The Redemptorists in Albania and India will receive extraordinary economic support, and the Redemptorists’ Refugees Aid in Austria will also get support in the form of donations.
Fr. Voith: “The co-operation between the religious orders and the lay organizations constitutes an important and great challenge, both on the spiritual level and in connection with many of the projects at home and abroad. Both groups are able to compliment each other substantially”.
