World Youth Day Kraków 2016, Days in Dioceses, Alphonsian Day
Dear Brothers, Dear Youth
We invite the youth connected with youth ministry led by the Redemptorists around the world (PGVR) to a special feast and meeting during the World Youth Day Kraków 2016. We want to spend this time together as the Group Redemptor that gathers the Redemptorist Youth. We continue the tradition of common meetings, which were held as a part of the WYD in Madrid and Rio de Janeiro.
We prepare a special program for you. It contains two parts:
July 20 – 25, 2016: Days in the Archdiocese of Wrocław, Poland
July 27, 2016: Alphonsian Day in Kraków, Poland
1. Days in the Archdiocese of Wrocław, July 20 – 25, 2016:
These days are a time when young people from the entire world are hosted in different dioceses across Poland. We invite the Redemptorist Youth to Wrocław. It is a beautiful and the largest city in the south-western Poland and the capital of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. It is known also as a city of 100 bridges and 12 islands. This big academic and cultural center has its own airport and in this way is connected to all places all over the world. There are only 270 kilometers (168 miles) to Kraków. Our host parish will be Our Lady of Solace Parish in Wrocław, where the Polish Redemptorists work and lead a Catholic Academic Ministry.
The youth will be accommodated by families of the parish. We have also 800 places in student houses of Wrocław University of Technology (rooms with 2 or 3 beds and bathroom).
During this days we plan to organize different events that can help to know each other. We will take part also in a program prepared by the Archdiocese of Wrocław.
General plan of days in the Archdiocese of Wrocław:
July 20th – Arrival to Wrocław
July 21st – Visiting of the City
July 22nd – Day of Mercy
July 23rd – Day of Meeting of the Groups
July 24th – Day in Our Lady of Solace Parish
July 25th – Day of Sending-Out to Kraków
Groups they want to take part in these days in Wrocław are asked to fill up a registration form to the end of August 2015.
2. Alphonsian Day: July 27, 2016
Second part of the Redemptorist Feast at the WYD Kraków 2016 will be Alphonsian Day in Kraków on July 27th, 2016.
We propose a meeting of the Redemptorist Youth from 2pm to 10pm. Father General will be present as well and will give a message to the youth. On the same day Father General wants also to meet leaders of our youth pastoral from the whole world. During the Alphonsian Day we, as a group, will be part of a so called “Festival of the Young”.
Please note: Group Redemptor is going to meet officially in Kraków only once. Apart from that participate in a general program of the WYD Kraków 2016 (catechesis, meetings, Way of the Cross, Prayer Vigil and Mass with Holy Father Francis). Alphonsian Day will be held probably on a stage in the Kraków Old Town (city center), not in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Shrine in Kraków.
3. Cooperation on WYD 2016
We invite all groups they want to cooperate on preparation of the Days in the Archdiocese of Wrocław and Alphonsian Day through a dance, short street performance, playing a music or bearing a witness, etc.
In a registration form you can find a question: “Festival of the Young”. Describe your proposal shortly please. We will contact you to talk about details. Applications for the performing of the festival will closed at the end of June 2015.

On the website krakow2016.redemptor.pl you can “Registration” and an application form for your group. All groups will be enrolled by us for WYD Kraków 2016, both to Wrocław and Kraków. Groups they want to visit Poland or Europe in addition, must organize this by themselves. They should arrive to a meeting point on an appointed day according to their way of participating in the WYD. Groups they don’t want to registered by us but want to take part in our Redemptorist events, are asked to inform us to the end of August 2015 (it is about the Days in Archdiocese in Wrocław especially).
Accommodation in Wrocław will be prepared by our committee and Kraków by the Organizing Committee of the WYD. Please note that our parish and house in Kraków don’t organize any accommodation. You have to plan and organize transportation to Poland and back to your countries. You will be informed online by us about transportation in Wrocław and in Kraków and costs of the WYD, as soon as these plans will be published by the Organizing Committee of the WYD.
