European Meeting of Redemptorist Youth started in Toruń
12th European Meeting of Redemptorist Youth under the motto “Go and share” started on July 27 in Toruń, Poland. The welcome ceremony at the Shrine of Our Mother of Perpetual Help in the presence of about 300 meeting participants, representing almost all European countries where the Redemptorists are ministering. Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine prevented the young people from that country from arriving in Torun.
During the opening of the meeting, young people learned the official anthem of the event. They also watched a video message sent by Fr. Michale Brehl, C.Ss.R., superior general, who addressed the meeting participants.
All gathered participated in Eucharist presided over by Fr. Janusz Sok CSsR, provincial superior of the Province of Warsaw, assisted by Frs. Pedro Lopez CSsR, general consultor, Vaclav Hypius CSsR, provincial superior of the Province of Bratislava-Praga, and about 40 redemptorist fathers concelebrating.
Fr. Sok, in his homily, encouraged the young people to live as people with a clear identity, becoming more and more people of faith and thus bringing joy and hope to the persons they meet.
The first day of the meeting was crowned by a worship concert performed by the symphonic orchestra “Or_kiestra” from Krakow, under the baton of Ms Justyna Zawiślan, broadcast live by TV Trwam.
The atmosphere of the joy of meeting together was already visible on the faces of the young people on the first day. During the next four days, the young people will participate in catechesis, group meetings and workshops. They will pilgrim to the local cathedral church in Torun’s Old Town and the Blessed Virgin Mary Star of the New Evangelisation and St. John Paul II church.
