The experience of an international novitiate

In Ciorani, Italy, the motherhouse of the Congregation, almost three months have now passed since the beginning of Novitiate 2020/2021. The group of novices is quite heterogeneous; in fact, it is composed of Rocco and Giandomenico (from the Province of Naples), Davide (Rome), Daniel (Madrid), Jan and Samuel (Bratislava-Prague). The Master is Fr. Maurizio Iannuario.

On the morning of September 1st, there was the arrival and reception of the novices, while in the evening there was the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Vicar General Fr. Alberto Eseverri with other Redemptorist confreres, among them also the General Consultor Fr. Pedro Lopez. During the celebration Fr. Alberto also exhorted us, during this important year, not to let ourselves be conditioned by what may be human fears and fragilities, which a stage like this implies, but to have the courage to always trust in God’s grace.

So far, this exhortation has found fruitful ground in us. Despite our origins and even our different languages, we find ourselves studying, assimilating, and living with confidence the richness of the Redemptorist charism at the origin of our vocation.

During this journey, we trust in the prayers of all of you, but above all in the maternal intercession of the Virgin Mary, Mother of Perpetual Help, of St. Alphonsus, and the other Redemptorist Saints and Blesseds.
